Modules combine to form one large screen.
How it works
From outdoor-rated LED panels to controllers, audio and basic installation, here is what goes into a premium backyard screen package.
Final specifications depend on selected hardware, site conditions and installation requirements.
The complete package
Modules combine to form one large screen.
Black or dark powder-coated finish, subject to site review.
The brain that maps video across the LED panels.
Apple TV, Google TV, laptop, console, media player or AV receiver.
LED walls normally need separate outdoor audio.
Electrical and data cabling, weather-protected equipment location, handover and support.
Outdoor LED panels
Panels combine to form one large screen. Pixel pitch affects sharpness and viewing distance. Outdoor panels can be specified with IP-rated weather protection, and modules can be serviced or replaced depending on supplier and cabinet type.
Compact starts with P5 outdoor LED, with P4.81 upgrade available. Plus uses P4.81 or P4 outdoor LED. Max uses P4 outdoor LED, with P3.91 upgrade available depending on viewing distance and budget.
Weather resistance and IP ratings
Outdoor-rated panels can be specified with IP-rated protection for rain and dust. Final suitability depends on selected hardware, exposure, structure and installation method.
These packages target IP65 panel or cabinet class where suitable.
The first digit relates to dust and solids. The second digit relates to water.
Drainage, ventilation, cable paths, power, service access and weather exposure need review.
Controllers and sources
It receives video from a source and maps it across the LED panels so they behave like one large display. Systems may use professional LED control platforms such as Huidu, Colorlight, NovaStar or similar depending on package, supplier and availability.
Used for Compact, suitable for one main source and simpler use.
Used for Plus, suitable for common entertainment devices.
Used for Max, suitable for larger screens and stronger input handling.
Smart-home integration may be possible depending on the selected controller, source devices, AV setup and automation system. In many cases, the smart-home layer controls power, source selection, audio and lighting rather than the LED panels directly.
Possible video sources include Apple TV, Google TV, Foxtel, Fetch, laptop, gaming console, media player, HDMI matrix or AV receiver.
Gaming and audio
Gaming can be possible, especially for casual games, racing games, sport games and party games. For serious or competitive gaming, latency must be reviewed during specification.
LED walls normally need a separate audio system. Compact is audio-ready with an optional Polk Atrium 6 add-on. Plus includes a Polk Atrium 6 speaker pair plus basic amp allowance. Max includes a Klipsch AW-650 speaker pair plus better amp or AV allowance, with optional Sonos Outdoor by Sonance plus Sonos Amp upgrade.
Speakers may be outdoor-rated, but amplifiers and AV equipment must be installed in a protected location.
Structure and finish
Compact includes a basic metallic frame. Plus includes a reinforced metallic frame. Max includes a heavy-duty metallic structure with cleaner cable concealment.
Large or exposed installations may need additional structure review, installer review or engineering input depending on site conditions.
